First Grade Writing Celebration

The first graders held their first writing celebration today. They’ve been writing each day and learning how to do writing workshop. Each student chose a favorite writing piece to “fancy up’ by adding to their pictures and/or text to revise and looking for a few words that they misspelled to edit. During writing workshop today they gathered on our mat and each child shared their piece. Then they shared all of their pieces in small groups. We ended our celebration by enjoying a special snack. Writing is alive and well in first grade!

Dragon’s Lair

The Dragon’s Lair, our school store, will be open for business on October 1st. After that date, it will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the gym. There is a nice variety of school supplies available. All proceeds benefit the fifth grade end-of-the-year trip. See you at the store!

June 1st: RSU#2 Budget Forum (voting on articles) – Hall-Dale High School Gym from 6-10 pm

June 9th: Budget Validation Vote (by ballot box)

Early Release Day

The final Early Release Day of this school year will be on May 13th. Students will load buses at 11:40 am.

Scholastic Book Fair

Remember the Buy One, Get One Free Book Fair continues through May 6th! Come anytime during school hours!

Teacher Workshop Day

There will be no school next Friday, April 17th due to a teacher workshop day.

Kindergarten Registration

There will be a parent informational meeting on May 21st at 6:30 PM in the Kindergarten room.

Kindergarten Search

We are searching Dresden for next year’s kindergarten class. If you have a child that will be five (5) by October 15, 2009 and will start kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year, please fill out the form that was attached to the April newsletter and return it to school. Please share this information with any neighbors that may have a child ready for kindergarten. Thanks!
